November 5th, 2008. Some people start to disappear around the world. No one can explain it, except some people who claim to have seen some blue light right before the person disappeared.
November 23th, 2008. The news are still not good. People keep disappearing, without any apparent connection.
Even though all the authorities have been mobilized, they haven't found any clue. All they know is it seems random. From young boys and girls to adult men and women, only old people are not affected.
What could be the reason? Who could be doing it? And more importantly, how are they doing it? All those questions remain unanswered.
In a house, somewhere, a relatively normal boy is eating lunch with his family. He suddenly feels dizzy, so he stands up and goes to the bathroom to clear up his head. He closes the door and when he’s throwing some water at his face, he sees a faint blue light in the mirror. He turns around scared, because of those things he has heard in the news.
He wants to think it was just his imagination. Or some effect caused by the dizziness. But he isn't so lucky. Even after rubbing his eyes, the light is still there. It's faint and blurry, almost invisible, but it there.
Unexpectedly, a voice comes from the direction of the light.
- Don’t worry… I won’t hurt you…
Coming from a blue light, that doesn't really calm the boy.
- Are... are you here to take me? - replies the boy -
- Maybe. Can you open your eye?
- What?
- I see. Let me help you, then…
The boy then feels something touching his forehead, and an intense pain fills his head first, and then expands to his body. luckily for him, the pain doesn’t last long, and when he can open his eyes again, he notices some changes in what he sees. There’s more in the room than there was before.
The blue light is no longer just a faint light. It has human shape, the shape of a girl about the same age as the boy.
- I… can... see you… - says the boy -
- That’s nice - replies the girl with a smile -, it would have been a shame if it hadn’t worked!
The boy blushes from her smile, and thinks “Yeah”.
- Ok then, do you want to come to my world?
- Will I come back someday?
- Depends. Once you see it, you might like that world enough to stay.
- Can I say goodbye?
- Sure.
The boy comes out of the bathroom followed by the girl. And his family sees the light behind him, they get scared.
The boy, with a comprehensive look in his eyes, can just say one thing:
- Goodbye.
While his family looks at him surprised, a blue light surrounds him, getting brighter, until the world can’t be seen anymore.
- So… What’s your name?
- Leo. Leonard Armstrong. And yours?
Just before he loses consciousness, he can hear “Liiel. But you can call me Ly.”
